Oven will not heat up
If your oven is not heating up then you will need to check first of all that the oven is switched on and that all of the controls have been set including the clock.
If the oven is not receiving power then it will not heat up so if a fuse has tripped in your home then the cooker will not be getting an electricity supply. Likewise the oven’s own safety cut-out will trip if there is a problem with the electricity cables connected to the oven.
Gas ovens will need to receive a gas supply and an electricity supply as modern gas ovens are powered by electricity. You can check whether the oven is receiving a gas supply by examining the valves on the back of the oven to make sure that the gas is flowing into the oven. If you smell gas at any point you should switch it off at the mains straightaway and call out an engineer as escaped gas can be extremely dangerous.
If you have verified that the oven is receiving power then there may be a problem with the oven’s components such as the thermostat. In this instance it is best to call out an engineer.
